I Coulda Been a Contender

In Uncategorized on January 7, 2009 by lexiekoss

I finally know why I never won that Olympic gold medal I promised myself when I was 7. Turns out it’s my genetic predisposition towards gossip that kept me from my dream. A new study reveals that, even at a young age, girls play less vigorously than boys because they are more interested in discussing Jenny’s crush on Bobby than getting violently attacked with dodge balls. Go figure.

From yesterday’s Telegraph:

Researchers who followed the behaviour of 10 and 11-year-olds in their school playgrounds found that the girls tended to spend their time talking in small groups and socialising.

By contrast, the boys were more likely to play in larger groups and to take part in games like football.

Wait! It gets better. Early findings from another study show:

Men in their seventies are significantly more active than women, mainly because they spend more time outside the home.

By contrast, the women tended to get most of their exercise performing chores around the house.

Well, thank God we got the cookin’ and cleanin’ and sewin’ and fixin’ to keep us fit as fiddles and pretty as pictures. Otherwise there would be a bunch of chatty fatties running around, and who wants that?

This blogpost has been brought to you by the year 1957. Now, if you’ll excuse me I have to go make canapes for the Tupperware party I’m hosting this afternoon. I just hope Judy Lovett doesn’t make her famous pork n’ beans casserole. That woman is forever trying to rain on my parade. Ta!
